That\u2019s not all, they get paid for this!\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this post, we share our conversation with Vijay Thanki, Season\u2019s 1\u2019s sleep intern whose understanding of the importance of sleep and exercise helped him lose 26kg! In this interview, we talk in detail about the benefits that recognizing the importance of sleep and exercise can have on one\u2019s weight and overall well-being.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vijay, an independent filmmaker, came across Wakefit\u2019s sleep internship online. \u201cI read about this contest and how <a href=\"http:\/\/wakefit.co\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wakefit <\/a>was paying people to sleep (laughs),\u201d Vijay said. Since he had never seen something like this, he got intrigued immediately. Moreover, \u201cI was trying to understand my sleep better, and this internship seemed like the perfect opportunity to do just that,\u201d Vijay added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>How does sleep affect weight: Vijay\u2019s experience <\/strong><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The biggest achievement for Vijay was building a discipline around his fitness. \u201cI lost 26 kgs, and it\u2019s all thanks to the sleep internship. Working out was a crucial part of this programme, and simply by doing that, I was able to sleep better\u201d, Vijay explained. \u201cWorking out regularly helped me with my transformation and weight loss, but none of that would have been possible without good sleep\u201d, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2910\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wakefit.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Cute-International-Womens-Day-Instagram-Post-2.png\" alt=\"Wakefit Sleep Intern Vijay Thanki\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wakefit.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Cute-International-Womens-Day-Instagram-Post-2.png 1080w, https:\/\/www.wakefit.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Cute-International-Womens-Day-Instagram-Post-2-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.wakefit.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Cute-International-Womens-Day-Instagram-Post-2-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.wakefit.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Cute-International-Womens-Day-Instagram-Post-2-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/www.wakefit.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Cute-International-Womens-Day-Instagram-Post-2-1024x1024.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Understanding what the lack of sleep effects on brain are<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Talking about how we take sleep for granted, Vijay said, \u201cWe usually give very little thought to sleep, though our entire day depends on how well-rested we are.\u201d Wakefit\u2019s effort to draw attention toward how we all carry a sleep debt is a step in the right direction, according to Vijay.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cGetting enough sleep means being ready to take on the world. You don\u2019t wake up with the clouded mind. You won\u2019t be postponing living for tomorrow,\u201d Vijay told Wakefit. \u201c When you wake up fresh, the first thing you do in the morning is get your work out in, and you are set for the day. But that can only happen if you get good sleep\u201d, he emphasizes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lack of awareness around the importance of sleep and exercise is one of the reasons why Wakefit came up with the idea of sleep internship. Appreciating this, Vijay observed how people are ignorant about the benefits of sleep and how lack of sleep affects brain development, and that there are these initiatives working toward promoting sleep awareness. \u201cIn fact, I think Wakefit is the only company that is trying to do this. Spreading sleep awareness is more important right now with the pandemic,\u201d he commented.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Sleep tips shared during the internship<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of the internship, the interns had to attend several sessions that offered sleeping tips. They were also introduced to the benefits of sleep and exercise and given secrets on the best way to sleep. The most enriching session for Vijay was The Neuroscience of Sleep where he learned how sleep is so much more than what meets the eye. The other session that left a mark on Vijay was Yoga Nidra Meditation Session by Manish Pole. \u201cI learned how to release energy and relax in order to prepare for sleep, one of the things that I have continued even after the internship\u201d, shared Vijay.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At Vijay\u2019s home, Vijay wasn\u2019t the only one who reaped the benefits of Wakefit\u2019s Sleep Internship. His wife too enjoyed the sessions thoroughly and lost 9kgs during this time.
