We have brought the same intense R&D that made our other products receive such love from our customers, to the design of the bed. Our focus was to create a sturdy bed that has the longevity of hard wood but with the ease of assembly of a simple metal bed. That eliminated flimsy alternatives such as engineered wood, which don’t really last long. Hard wood, when treated, polished and finished, lasts for years together, with no problems at all. That is the reason why you have those massive hard wood beds from your grand parents’ generation, still being used comfortably without any problems. Hard woods are usually made from timber, and come from very solid woods such as teak.
Sheesham wood is also known as Indian rosewood and is found in India and the rest of the subcontinent. They live for over 20 years and can grow to a height of over 30 meters. Sheesham has an innate resistance to decay and to termites. It is a very tough wood and looks very classy when polished because its grain is very well-defined.
The next challenge was to engineer a design that could be assembled by practically anyone, while having fun doing it. This took us over 20 prototypes and brainstorming sessions with different wood working equipment and skilled carpenters. We finally crafted the perfect bed, which could be put together with just four nuts being tightened, but at the same time is sturdy and firm.
